Introducing Wyatt Ray Henderson!

We are proud to present Wyatt Ray Henderson, the newest member of our little family. Our doctor scheduled our repeat C- Section a few weeks ago for September 12th, so there was little anxiety about when he would make his debut, our babies don't tend to come early. Wyatt was delivered at 1:39 pm and weighed 9 lbs 9 ozs and was 21.5 inches long and is absolutly perfect. It's funny how much he looks like Chase did when he was born, only 1 oz bigger and a 1/2 inch longer.

Big brother Chase has done great adjusting to having Wyatt home, often offering baby brother toys or wanting him to sit in the seat next to him. Wyatt has been such a good baby, either that or it seems easier since we've done this once before :) We've spent the last few days getting to know W as he gets to know us, playing with Chase and loving being a family of 4. A few of our wonderful neighbors have brought meals over which are as much appreciated as they are delicious.

Here are several pictures from his arrival and our days spent at the hospital. I have to say the staff at Methodist Willowbrook were amazing. I love all the nurses and our lactation consultant, they made our 4 days there are enjoyable as a hospital stay can be.

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. We are so very grateful for our latest blessing.

Baby Boy has a name!

After months of scrolling through baby names and going back and forth baby boy has a name. We've decided on Wyatt Ray, Wyatt b/c we really liked the name and Ray is both my dad and Chris' dad's middle name so we really wanted to incorporate Ray to honor both grandpa's. As soon we made the decision I got online and ordered several things I'd been holding off on until he had a name. One being the vinyl art for over his bed. I think his nursery is pretty much complete,with the exception of a few little things. As you can see it is the same room and furniture Chase used but we ordered new bedding and changed the decor to ensure he had his own identity since he will without a doubt get plenty of hand me downs. My sweet hubby bought an item off m "wish list", a new sewing/embroidery machine that arrived late last week! I finished my first project tonight, the red pillow you'll see in the pictures. I've recently discovered the website pinrest and have several projects I'd like to try in the coming weeks.

My sweet sisters, Miranda and Megan, and long time friend Kristin hosted a shower for me and baby boy earlier this month in Dallas. They put a lot of time and energy into making the day extra special. It was great seeing and visiting girlfriends I feel like I never get to see given the miles between us. We got lots of much needed diapers and essentials we'll need for our new addition. I am blessed to have so many people who love me and our growing family!

Baby Boy Henderson's birthday has been set!

A little update on our pregnancy! Things have been going really well with this pregnancy, I feel great most of the time other than wearing out easily, which may have something to do with the Texas heat and Houston humidity. Monday marked our 31st week, the time seems to be flying by! I found out last week I failed my 3 hour glucose test which means I again have gestational diabetes, yet a very mild case that simply requires me slightly adjust my diet but no finger pricking or meds. During our "baby doctor" appointment on Tuesday, Dr. McQuirk scheduled our repeat C-section for September 12th at 12:30 PM. Having a date set has made me realize that in less than 8 weeks I'll be a mommy of 2 little boys! His nursery is still a work in progress and about 80% complete, I'll post pictures soon. This little man still does not have a name but I am hoping we will have that soon as well, it's driving me crazy!

Happy Father's Day to all you daddy's, step dads and grand dad's. I decided Chris is such a great day he deserved not a single day but the whole weekend! Chris is such a amazing daddy and amazes me with his patience and love for Chase. I love how much Chase looks up to Chris because he is the kind of man I pray Chase and his baby brother are someday. He deserved the best Father's Day!
We kicked our Father's Day weekend off at a birthday party for one of Chase's friends. Chris and chase had a ball playing in the bounce houses and giant slides. Since mommy is 7 months pregnant I sat this play time out and took pictures.

We've made somewhat of a family tradition to spend Mother's Day and Father's Day as a family doing something fun. We drove to Galveston Saturday after the birthday party and ate lunch at Tortuga's (Chris chose Mexican food, what a shocker!), rode the Ferry to Bolivar and spent a little time on the beach. Chase is becoming quite the water lover and had no fear when in came to the BIG water and waves. We'll have to make plans to go back very soon.

Sunday I let Chris sleep in and made homemade waffles for breakfast. Don and Shannon invited us out to the country club to swim for a bit before everyone came over to our house for dinner. Chase could not wait to get in and swam nearly the entire time we were there only getting out long enough to take a canoe ride with Chris.

Much needed vacation!

Since Chris has been traveling for work a lot lately, in just three weeks he has been to Orange County, Las Vegas and Charlotte, NC we decided we needed to get away to enjoy some quality time as a family. Given I am nearly 6 and a half months pregnant we stayed semi close to home and made a point to do things we've talked about but never fit into weekends.

Chris' had a long day Friday dealing with delayed flights trying to get home from Charlotte and finally arrived home around 6 pm. The car was washed, fueled up and loaded down ready to depart from Casa de la Henderson, we pulled out of the drive around 7, given him a full hour to "rest" :) We stayed with Chris' cousin Nicole and her family and had made plans to take the kids to ride the Austin Steam Engine Saturday morning. It's an old restored train that takes you on a three hour ride from Cedar Park to Bertram and back to Cedar Park. Chris and I had taken the train for a Valentine's Day dinner when we were pregnant and living in Austin, I can say it's so much more fun seeing it through the eyes of your child. Our little guy loved the train ride and did really well considering it was 3 hours of mostly sitting. We went back for a much needed nap, went to dinner and stopped by a park for the kids (and dads) to play. Later that evening we went down the street to enjoy an out door concert one of Nicole and Alden's neighbors was having in thier backyard. It was a great way to wind down after a great day. The kids had fun getting in and out of thier mini lawn chairs and dancing around.

Sunday after church we headed to spend time with Matt and Danne' at a friends house. Chase had a blast swimming and jumping off the edge of the pool to daddy. As soon as we got back to Matt's house Chase was asking to play the drums, this is a trademark of Matt's house. I know he loves the drums but I can't say that I'll ever be excited to have a set in our house!

Monday we left beautiful Austin and drove to San Marcos to show Chase what Aquarena Springs is all about, it's an old use to be amusement park from the 1930's that Texas State University purchased in 1994 and has tried to somewhat preserve. Next to trains fish are one of Chase's favorite things to see and talk about and the glass bottom boat tour was a hit. we couldn't leave San Marcos without eating lunch at one of their many restaurants that offer great scenic views.

Our last stop was San Antonio! Chase found his favorite spot within minutes after arriving at our hotel, his idea of a window seat. Tuesday we did the touristy thing walking down the river walk, riding the river boats, eating Mexican food next to the river and shopping in the market. Later that evening we drove out to have dinner with some old friends, Paul, April and their new baby girl Madison, sadly I was slacking on my picture taking and didn't take a single picture. It's always great catching up with great friends we don't get to see often enough. I think we were already to get back home Wednesday despite all the fun we had. It was so nice just taking it easy and lounging by the hotel pool with the two guys that make my world go 'round.

Yesterday marked 24 weeks into our pregnancy, in another words 6 months. Sadly this little person still doesn't have a name but I'll be sure to post it once we've decided on the perfect one for him.The time seems to be flying by but I know I won't be saying that the last two months or so as I waddle through the hottest part of the Texas summer in my third trimester. Baby boy Henderson is doing really well and measuring perfectly at 24 weeks. I look forward to our monthly doctor visits just to hear his heart beat. I'll take the glucose test within the next few weeks so we can determine if I have gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy like I did with my first. My guess is that I won't be we'll have to see what the est reveals.

Chase amazes us everyday with the things he seems to understand, remembers and says. Its so nice for him to be able to communicate with us and tell us exactly what he needs and wants and for the most part he understands why he may or may not need/want when we tell him. He has so much personality and loves being funny. There are times Chris and I laugh because he starts talking and won't stop...what have we created?!?!

We talk about baby brother a lot with Chase and he know baby is on my belly but he has no clue he will be sharing his entire world, mommy and daddy with this little brother in just a few months. Since we only have one secondary bedroom downstairs Chase is moving to his BIG BOY room upstairs to give the new baby the nursery. We decided to set up his new room now so that we can start playing and napping upstairs so hopefully the transistion to sleeping there every night wouldn't seem so unfamiliar. I still have a little more to do before it's complete but we're happy with how it has turned out so far. Now I can start decorating and setting up the babies room, pictures to come!

Memorial Day Weekend

We took advantage of the long weekend and headed to the lake house. Our friends Matt and Danne' drove from Austin to enjoy a little R & R with us but some how I managed not to get a single picture of them! We told Chase where we were going as were getting the truck loaded up Friday so he grabbed an armload of matchbox cars, a train and his new bass boat daddy brought him home from Las Vegas last week and told me "let's go!". He loves every minute at the lake house, especially if he is outside. As you can see from the pictures below there is always something to keep him busy. At the age of two he already shares his daddy's love of fishing. He got to try out his fishing pole the Easter Bunny brought him, daddy would cast it out and he would reel it back in saying "here fishy, fishy". Chris has been setting out lines to catch catfish and Chase is right by his side as he cleans them. My favorite was when Chris used the cast net to catch shad for bait and Chase helped pick up the live little fish and put them in the bucket without a hint of fear. This all makes Chris one happy daddy!

We loved spending time with family and friends this weekend. The weather was perfect other than the wind which made it impossible to go out on the lake in the boats. Thankfully we have plenty more summer weekends to make up for it.

BassMaster's Battle on the Bayou

If you know Chris, you are familiar with his passion for bass fishing. As BASS lifetime member he is occasionally given the opportunity to serve as a Bassmaster's tournament Marshall. He was selected two years ago but the tournament was the same month Chase was due at a lake that was 7 hours away so needless to say he passed that one up. This time it was for a 3 day event, BassMaster's Battle on the Bayou, in Many, Lousiana. He was unsure of what to expect but after hearing the excitement in his voice after the first day I knew he was having the time of his life! The Marshalls were randomly assigned to a differnet Professional Fisherman each day. Over the 3 days he rode with Randy Howell, Ben Parker and Boyd Duckett who was Angler of the year 3 in 2009. As you can see from the pictures Chris was on cloud 9!

We spent a fun and relaxing Easter weekend in Dallas with my family. Chase got to spend a lot of quality time with Nonna, Papaw, his aunts and cousins. We hauled the boat in hopes of Chris getting some fishing in but the Dallas weather didn't cooperate, it was too windy or rainy most of the time. We attending Easter Mass at our church we were members of when we lived in Corinth. I love and miss the preist and deacon terribly, simply walking in the door brings so tears to my eyes. The service was the perfect start to our Easter Sunday spent with family. Chase had so much fun dying at hunting eggs with his cousins!

I wanted to share some before and after pictures of our back yard after our latest home improvement project. The back yard was less than cared for by the previous owners and was in need of some major tlc.. Over the coarse of a few weeks we had 5 dump trucks of fill dirt delievered, rented a bobcat for a weekend to level a few areas, laid 16 pallets of grass and cut down a tree. Chase had a blast "helping daddy" every step of the way. We still need to do a bit more work and have plans to paint the house and build a deck sometime in the semi near future. I can't wait to see the kids playing together in thier backyard.

I am a little late on posting about Chase's party, but it's taken me this long to recover! We had Chase's party the Saturday following his birthday here at our house and of coarse it had to be choo choo train themed! I searched everywhere and couldn't find decor I liked so I decided I would make everything myself, what was I thinking?!?! We had a full house, throughout the day over 50 of our friends and family came by to wish our little guy a happy birthday. Chase was a bit overwhelmed at times but over all did great given he missed his nap for the day. He had a great time running around playing at watching the big kids. Thank you all who came to help us celebrate Chase's 2nd year!

Well, its official our little boy is 2! Chris took Wednesday off of work so we could spend the day with our birthday boy. We started the day off with an out of tune version of the Happy Birthday song and cinnamon rolls with birthday candles. We headed into town for haircuts for the boys, Ash Wednesday and lunch before driving out to spend the remainder of the day at the Houston Rodeo. It was a beautiful day and Chase was in such a happy mood. He loved the rides, petting zoo and seeing all the sights. We could not have asked for a more perfect family day!

In the past few months he has changed so much! He talked constantly, repeating everything and putting words together, sometimes even making somewaht sentences. He loves "helping" whether it's helping me in the kitchen or daddy work in the yard, he has to be by our side doing whatever we are doing....though often he is really no help at all :) He rarely leaves the house without is Texas State baseball hat on, and he makes sure to remind daddy to get his hat if he fails to put one on.

The Henderson's of Hockley are adding one more to the bunch! We had our first appointment today and got to see our little blueberry and it's beating heart. Watching the tiny flashing light on the black and white screen made the pregnancy so very real. I've felt good other than occasional nausea and extreme fatigue, I'm taking advantage of Chase's nap times and trying to sneak of of my own. We're 7 weeks today which makes our due date September 20th, 2011, just a few days before my 31st birthday. Chase really doesn't grasp the concept of a baby growing in mommy's belly but we know he is going to be an amazing big brother! Please keep our growing family in your prayers.

Merry Christmas to you all! We had such a fun time experiencing Christmas with Chase this year.

We had a very busy and blessed holiday weekend. It's become Henderson tradition to celebrate on the 23rd to work around our brother in laws HPD work schedule and ensure we can all be together for the day. Gloria prepared a yummy dinner and we exchanged gifts. Chase got the hang of ripping wrapping paper off packages and saying "thank you!".

We spend Christmas Eve with Chris' extended family. We attended Christmas Eve mass and headed over to Aunt Gail and Uncle Rick's for dinner and the annual gift exchange. I love being part of their ever growing BIG family! We are blessed to be able to spend the holidays with so many people who love us! Chase was on day 3 of no nap so I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked to. He looked so stinking cute in his reindeer sweater!

We got home pretty late on Christmas Eve so thankfully Chase let daddy and I sleep in. I have a feeling next year he will be a bit more eager to wake up earlier to see what Santa left under the tree. We explained Santa came and left him presents but I am not sure how much he truly understood. He slowly walked towards his loot and said "car!" and got pretty excited as he explored all his new toys. I don't know that he a favorite gift, he has taken time to play with them all. The child will be busy with new toys for months....Chris already said for his birthday in three months we're putting money in his college fund!

We had the joy of celebrating Christmas with my family a week early. The whole crew drove in from Dallas Friday night and spent the weekend here in Houston with us. It is always a joy to have our home filled with family, I love playing lil' Mrs. Hostess :) Spending uninterrupted/unscheduled time with family was the greatest gift I received this year! Chase loved having the bigs kids, Jenna and Nate, here to play with.

21 months....

Chase turned 21 months old on Thursday. It's hard to believe our little man will be 2 in just three months! I told myself not to even begin thinking about party planning until after the holidays....but a few minutes later I was googling for party supplies! Chris and I are so excited about experiencing Christmas with him this year. I''m pretty sure he'll get the hang of it pretty quickly :) He is into hats right now, if he sees Chris without one on he'll lead him to our closet and direct Chris put one on his head and give Chase one to wear.

We brought the Home Depot work bench home from my parents house a few weeks ago they had from my nephew. Chase will "work" for hours and insist you "seat" next to him and help. His vocabulary is unbelievable- too many news words to list. He is great and listening and following directions. He is by far the tidiest child I have ever met. Each night before getting out of the bath he puts all his toys away in the net before being told. He says and does the funniest things, what did Chris and I do for entertainment before him?

We drove out to Sealy on Saturday to watch the parade they have every year. Our neighbor's mom lives right on Main Street and host a huge Christmas party before the parade begins, cookies and hot chocolate, even Santa comes to read the kiddo's a few stories! Chase sat in daddy's lap fasinated by the lights and sounds of the parade!

I am a bit behind on blogging, Chris "hid" my pictures and I've had to wait for him to correct the issue. Anyhow, while we were in Dallas for Thanksgiving we thought we would beat the crowds of people and go see Santa. We went the around the same time last year and there was no line at all, this year we waited an hour. Chase had the exact same reaction to Santa this year...get this crazy bearded man away from me! Seeing the picture makes me laugh. I only hope this phase will pass by next year when he begins to understand what a great guy St. Nicholas really is!

We drove to Dallas last Sunday to spend the week and Thanksgiving with my family. Chris worked from my parents house Monday and Tuesday, we are very thankful that his job gives us the flexibility to travel witout using so much vacation. As always the trip seemed too short and we didn;t get to see everyone we would have liked to. Thursday was spent preparing food, eating too much food, watching football and enjoying time with the entire Melty family and m Aunt Jan and Uncle Tom. Nate insisted we end the day with a family game of Charades which was a lot of fun, I have to say I'm pretty dang good at it! I try not to take any of my blessings for granted but on Thanksgiving I call to mind all the little things. I'm grateful for unanswered prayers, had God given me what I wanted so many years ago I wouldn't be where I am today. What are you most grateful for this year?

20 months old!

Today marks Chase's 20th month! On his 15 month we decided to mark his growth progress on the pantry door frame. It will be fun to see the marks on the wall get higher and higher with each passing year.

Chase is talking so much now! His vocabulary grows each day and he seems to be putting 2-3words together now and then. He repeats pretty much anything you say. His obsession with trains continues, he carried a Thomas the train engine around all day Saturday, in and out of the car and every store. He keeps Chris and I laughing constantly.

We had a very busy but happy Halloween weekend. Saturday night we went to Don & Shannon's pumpkin carving party, as you can see from the picture it was a huge success and lots of fun!

Chase, our little train conductor was bribed with candy to sit still so we could snap a few shots. Chase can say Parker now, which sounds a little more like Barber but it's close :)

We invited Ken & Gloria and our friends Marty, Stacy and Chase #2 over to trick or treat with us. Since both boys are small and wouldn't be disappointed if we only went to a few houses. Both Chase's did great, Chase #1 got the hang of it quickly, he'd walk up to our neighbors doors, knocked and waited on the candy to be dropped into his bucket. I got a bit teary eyed at the first house seeing what a big boy he is becoming, such a mom thing! We came home after about 5 houses and he kept going to the door so we took him back out to visit a few more neighbors. Holidays are so much fun with kiddo's around! We spent Saturday morning at Zube Park not far from our house. Our neighbor volunteers one Saturday a month to drive the miniature trains and invited us out for a private ride. It was fun to see all of the unique trains and ride along the 2 miles of train track. For our local friends, you must check them out! Chase loved the whole experience!

Pumpkin Patch 2010!

For months now I have been excited to take Chase to the pumpkin patch, we went last year to take a few pictures but he was too small to do much else. This year we went to the same local grower and were able to go on the hayride, try out the corn maze and see the animals. Chase wasn't feeling well so I didn't get the pictures I had hoped for, there is always next year! I love looking back at pictures taken this time last year to see how much our little man has grown!

After three attempts at other costumes Chase made it clear he was not a fan of big fluffy costumes with hats so we had to try another route. We opted for a Halloween costume that to Chase would be everyday clothes. Chase shares his late Great Grandfather Malkowsky's love for trains so what more perfect costume that a train conductor? I took Chase to Old Town Tomball one mid morning for pictures by the historic train and he had a ball! He had to have said "choo-choo" 50 times and didn't want to leave.

I can't believe I am just now getting around to updating our blog. Forgive me? The weekend of the 16-17 Ken and Gloria graciously invited my family to the lake house for the weekend. Chase was surrounded by both sets of grandparents and Uncle Joe and Aunt Megan, needless to say he was not lacking love and attention! We all had a great time visiting, taking the boats out, and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. The guys spent a lot of time fishing but didn't seem to have a lot of luck. It was fun seeing my mom and Gloria out on the jet ski and paddle boat, for those who know my mom that is so out of character for her! It won wonderful to have my entire family together simply enjoying life!

The Henderson's visited the Houston Zoo for the first time on Saturday. The sun was shinning and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, the perfect day to spend outdoors! Chase knows all of the farm yard animals but jungle animals are fairly new to him, I think the elephants were his favorite (and mine too). We had a great time walking around pointing out animals and birds to Chase. You truly see life in a whole new light through the eyes of a child!

We invited our good friends, Fidencio, Krystle and Ella to join us at the Waller County Fair Friday night. So I put my cowgirl boots on eager to see what this small town fair was all about! Growing up in Dallas we went to the State Fair of Texas pretty much every year, this was pretty much the same only on a MUCH smaller scale. We walked through the live stock area, checked out what a few vendors had and watched the barrel races and bull riding. The kids were great and really got into it!

Welcome back Autumn we missed you! I love this time of year, the weather is cool and crisp, the leaves begin to change and there are so many fun things to do! Chris on the other hand would be happy if the tempature never dropped below 100 because he hates cold/winter that much!

Since the weather has cooled off so much I've wanted to take Chase outside to play more then I did when you broke out in a sweat the minute you stepped foot into the Houston humidity. Chase tons of toys but I thought he needed something to play on rather than play with. I didn't want to go oever board given Chritmas is just a few months away. So after searching craigslist I found a climber that was in great shape, kept indoors and was pretty local. It is the perfect size, I don't have to worry so much about him getting too high or getting hurt. Aunt Miranda offered to make it an early Christmas gift- thanks Aunt Miranda! Chase loves it- I am already looking for other little tykes outdoor toys to add to it.

Chase and I played outside a but Thursday since the weather isn't scorching. Watching Chase with his toy truck it occurred to me he won't be little long. The past 18 months have flown by, and I know the next 18 years will feel the same way. He is less and less like a baby each day and more and more like a little boy. I have to make a point to just sit back and soak up the time I have with him and of coarse take LOTS of pictures!

Mommy turns 30!

I am posting this a week late but I had a few blogging issues when I attempted this a few days ago. We invited our friends, family and neighbors over last Saturday to help celebrate my 30th Birthday. My Birthday is the 26th but our weekend is jam packed with weddings. Needless to say we had a great time! What's better then eating food I didn't have to cook and enjoying the company of my most favorite people? My heart was bursting with the love I felt that night, I thank God for the amazing people we have in our lives. My mom and sister Miranda drove in from Dallas and best friends, Matt and Danne' from Austin, which made the night that much more special. For months I dreaded turning 30, but suddenly one day I was okay with it. I realized that though my twenties are now just a memory, they are great memories and I am exactly where I want to be in my life at 30. I am actually really excited to see what surprises 30 hold!

Chase officially turned 18 months old last Thursday but I held off on blogging about it until today's wellness check. Chris took some time off work today to go with us to Chasey Poo's check up. Dr. Rose said Chase is right on track developmentally and doing great. He is in the 95 percentile in height at 35 inches(averaging the same height as a 2 year old) and 10th percentile in weight at a little under 24 lbs. We know he lost a bit of weight during a few days of a tummy bug 3 weeks ago. The doctor said he was on the verge of voicing concern about Chase's weight given it's a little on the low side until seeing Chris today. Believe me the child eats but apparently stays so active burns it all off.

The Dr. warned us of the things we can begin to expect from out independent 18 month old....many we have already been introduced to. More exploration around the house and getting into things, picky eating and tantrums. His vocabulary continues to grow each day and he has begun putting words together. I jotted down as many of his words I could think of while we were out to lunch today. Here are a few..momma, daddy, Nonna, papa, Jenna, Nate, dog, belly button, water, shoe, shirt, car, snack, bubble, bath, out, up, come on, cookie, cake, Elmo, Choo Choo, fish, cheese, juice, night night, book, eye, teeth, poo-poo, pee-pee, baby, bye-bye, spoon, hot, brush, banana, Ella, Blues Clue, peace out dude, hat, no,pop pop, boat- and I know I am forgetting many! He repeats all the time but I am not sure that he is aware of what he is saying. He seems to have a lot to say lately, he start talking baby talk and just go on forever and is so serious about it. I'd love to know what is going through his little head!

He can point to his eyes, teeth, ears, nose, mouth, belly button and hiney when asked where they are. Chase can also make the sounds for many animals, duck, cow, sheep, horse, chicken cat and dog, it's pretty dang cute if you ask his mom :)

He can follow directions well. If I ask him to take his blanket to his room he'll walk it in there and put it in the hamper. He found a piece of string on the floor last week and carried it to the kitchen and placed it in the trash all by himself. I hope he continues to be this tidy :)

As many of you know Sunday was Grandparents Day, and Chase was lucky enough to spend it at his Nonna and Papaw's house since we were in town for Miranda's wedding. I am hoping the card we sent made it to Papa and Grandma Henderson's mailbox sometime Saturday. I left Dallas before dawn on Monday headed home to Houston so I had plenty of time alone with my thoughts. I started thinking about Grandparents and how blessed Chase is to have 4 grandparents in his life who he is able to see quite often. I love watching Chase interact with his grandparents and seeing the joy they bring to one another.

By the time I made it into the world I had already lost 3 of my 4 grandparents and only had the chance to really know my paternal grandmother until I was 4 when we moved out of state. Chris has nothing but the fondest memories of his grandparents and even great grandparents, most whom are no longer on this earth, but the memories remain. Grandparents are a special gift and Chase has four pretty amazing ones!

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies. ~Rudolph Giuliani

We had a great time at Megan & Joe's wedding, it was a beautiful ceremony and fun reception! It is still crazy to think of my baby sister as a wife. It doesn't seem like that long ago we were sitting on our bedroom floor playing Barbie's.

Chase has been feeling under the weather with a tummy bug but didn't let that stop him from showing off his skills on the dance floor later that evening. I made a point not to carry around my camera all evening so I could be social and enjoy the big day, so I don't have many pictures.

I was transferring random pictures from the memory card to the computer while Chase is napping so I figured I would take a moment to blog. If you keep up with us at all you know this summer has been busy for us. We are headed to Dallas this weekend and get a few weeks to rest before FOUR weddings and my 30th birthday in September! Our friends Kristin and Nate and their kiddo's, Nolan and Keaton, came to spend the past weekend with us. Saturday we stopped by Chucky Cheese for the boys to play, Chase had a great time running around pressing buttons and climbing on the rides. I have to say we've added this to must do family outings for overly hot or cold days.

We stopped at Chuy's for lunch to fill our bellies with mexican food before heading downtown to the Children's Museum. I could not believe how big the facility was and the assortment of activities for kids of all ages. I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or the parents. We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out here at the house, playing games, eating and visiting. We can't wait to have them visit again! (hint hint)

My niece Jenna who lives in Dallas has been visiting all week. It's been fun having another girl in the house and Chase has really enjoyed her company. I've done my best to may her stay fun and memorable, trips to the pool, crafts, making homemade snicker doodles and banana bread, painting toe nails and extra long bedtime stories. Jenna was my child before I had my own, it has been a joy to watch her grow from our rolly polly Jennabug to a bright young girl.

We made a trip to a place nearby called Monkey Buziness, which it basically a huge room filled with bounce houses. Thankfully we got there early before the crowd so chase was able to play and explore without being trampled by the bigger kids. It amazes me what our 16 month old is capable of physically. Needless to say we all had a great time and were ready for lunch when we left!

Chase attended his first major league baseball game Sunday. If the kid is going to excel at any sport I am going to predict it will be baseball, he has a pretty strong pitching arm for 16 months old :) Our friends Matt and Danne' were in town this weekend from Austin so they joined us for some baseball fun! Chase lasted all 9 innings to see the Astros lose to the Cardinals. He spent the game cruising from lap to lap taking in the surroundings of the huge stadium. I do have to say the game was much more enjoyable in the enclosed air conditioned stadium compared to the memories I have watching the Rangers at The Ballpark in Arlington.

One afternoon last week I was checking emails in the kitchen while Chase played under the table, one of his favorite places given he can easily walk under it since it is counter height. Within a few minutes I looked down and the boy had fallen asleep. I of coarse grabbed my camera and called Chris down from his office to see. He spent the rest of his nap time in his bed :)

As Chase gets older and his attention span longer he seems more and more interested in watching age appropriate shows. We try not to watch tv everyday or too often but it is nice to cook dinner while Thomas the tank keeps him occupied : ) He loves his "choo choo" blanket his Great Aunt Katy made him before he was born and new pillow case I bought last week.

Happy (belated) Father's Day to all you dad's, step dad's and dad's to be! I was sad I wasn't able to spend it with my own, but I guess that's all part of growing up.

I set out to make Chris' day as special as my Mother'd Day was in May. We started the day with yummy breakfast of bacon and pancakes, Chris' favorite, while he played with his Father's Day gift. After church we went to meet the Henderson/Lippa family at Houston Oaks for burgers and relaxing in the pool. It was fun taking pictures of Don & Chris with their boys. Chris agree's it was a great day!

We attended a family friends wedding/reception Saturday in Bellville, Chase slept on Chris' shoulder the entire ceremony and danced nearly all night at the reception. Here are a few pictures that in no way capture Chase's dancing moves. I have no idea where he learned to move like this, we've done a little knee bouncing with Barney but nothing like what he came up with. I'm not sure if it was the open dance floor or the music but the kid twisted, shimmied and shook! Too funny!

Chris spent a few evenings this week working in the yard and of coarse his shadow wasn't far away. Chase watches daddy carefully and mocks his actions digging and picking up rocks. For those who know me well I am a bit OCD but God has given me the gift to let my boy be a boy and get dirty! He looks like a little rug rat in a t-shirt, diaper and dirt all over but I know he is having a great time. His bath water had never been so dirty!

Tonight's dinner included burgers on the grill, pasta salad and corn on the cob. Chase loved the corn on the cob and actually managed to get most of the corn off the cob with his little teeth. To mommy's delight he has had quite the appetite this week.

This was our 4th weekend in a row to go out of town and our little traveling man did great! I'm sure he will get bored and look at us like "what's next" the first weekend we stay home :)

Chris' parents closed our their lake house Friday so we made the 2 hour drive to Lake Livingston to help them settle in and celebrate! Ken and Gloria have worked hard to make this dream come true for themselves, children and grandchildren. The house is absolutely perfect for our growing family! While I was sitting on the wrap around deck with a view of the water my heart was humbled by our many blessings we too often take for granted. Psalms 118:24 kept going through my head, This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. I love thinking about all the memories our kids (and the big kids) will make there. God is good!

15 months!

Today marks Chasey Poo's 15th month. It's so funny to think about how much he has changed in just the 3 short months since his 1st birthday. As you can see he has a mouth full of teeth with more threatening to break through any day now. I am anxious to see next week at his wellness check how much he has grown (I'll be sure to keep you posted on the stats). Chris asked today if I was feeling him plant food b/c he is growing so fast! Daddy noticed it today when Chase can now see what he is reaching for off the desk rather than grabbing blindly :)

He has such a sweet and loving personality. He makes my day when he randomly leans over with puckered lips for a quick kiss followed with a "muah" sound. As I was getting his bath ready last night I asked him if he wanted to take a bubble bath and he repeated it perfectly.

It is amazing to see how well he communicates with us now. He went through a head shaking phase months ago but I am pretty sure he knows now how to communicate using the nods. I'll ask him if he had a good nap or if dinner was yummy and he shakes yes. If you ask him if he is ready for night night expect a no :)

Chase recently started taking us by the finger and leading us to where he wants us to go or to what he wants. We usually end up at a door leading to outside or the refrigerator! Today he let us know he was ready for lunch by taking Chris' finger and leading him to his high chair.

I'm sure many of you have seen his pictures on FB of his many bumps and bruises, yes he got his grace from his mother. After a knock or bang he now rubs where it hurts, which leaves a lot less guessing and much more soothing.

We could have never imagined how much joy a child could bring to our lives. We wouldn't trade our little monster for anything!

Happy Memorial Day! We spent the weekend at Chris' Uncle Rick and Aunt Gail's Bay house in Sargent, TX. There is no better way to relax than being out out cell service with no internet :) We all took a boat ride to the inter coastal canal Friday night, Chase sits so still and enjoys the ride despite being swallowed in his infant life jacket. Chris was able to get several hours of fishing in and thankfully he and the other guys brought a few home for dinner Sunday night. Somewhere between hanging with family, eating and fishing we found time to take Chase down to the beach to play. As you can see from the pictures he loved it, we'll have to plan for a trip back very soon. We went later in the evening so it wasn't hot at all and the water was perfect. I'm not sure which he enjoyed more, playing in the sand or riding the boogie board pulled by daddy?

The Henderson Family made a road trip to ATX this past weekend to catch up with our sweet friends and family we left behind when we moved last summer. We spent Saturday evening hanging out at Lake Travis, oh how we miss thee!

I had to share a few pictures I took this afternoon. Our friends Krystle and Ella came by for a mid week play date. We took the kids to the community pool for the first time and they loved it. Chase wasn't so sure about the giant bath tub at first but quickly got the idea and had a great time. We came back to the house for lunch and playtime.

Chase had a package waiting in the mailbox yesterday from Nonna and Papaw in Dallas. Chase was so great at hosting tea parties with the pink/purple set my mom felt he needed his own set daddy would approve of :) Chase was happy to share his newest toy with his best friend. He and Ella were so cute munching on plastic potato chips and were occupied for much longer than we expected. Chase and Ella, who we have already arranged to be married someday, are just a few months apart and play so well together. Ella says Chase frequently and Chase today called me Lel la.

A Very Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all you mommy's reading this had a very special day on Sunday. We got up earlier than usual and went to the early service at church, where I always seem to get more emotional than usual on Mother's Day :) To make my day special Chris decided it would be fun to make the hour drive to Kemah to have lunch and see the sights. We enjoyed a yummy lunch at the Cadillac Bar and Grill on the boardwalk with a view of the ocean and plenty of seagulls looming overhead :) It was a relaxing day to just hang out as a family walking through the shops and seeing the boats. We took the ferry across to Galveston Island which Chase loved.

Our little man made 14 months on Mother's Day, how time flies when you're having fun! Nothing makes me happier than having my amazing husband and our son by my side, my cup runneth over!

We've been in Dallas all week while Chris is attending a conference at the Gaylord for work. Chase has seemed to learn and pick up on so much this week which makes me sad that daddy is missing out on it all. I've sent plenty of pictures to keep him posted that he proudly shares with co workers.

He picks up a new word everyday! My parents faces light up every time Chase says Nonna or Papaw and he even surprised us all by saying Jenna a few times this afternoon! His vocabulary now includes, momma, daddy, nonna, papaw, papa, dog, suck, bubble, jump, drink, shoe, uh oh, ball, car and a few more I can't seem to remember right now.

Nonna has taught Chase to use my niece's old tea set. He makes the shhh sound while he pours from the purple tea pitcher and mmmm after he drinks the pretend tea out of the tiny pink cup and is always happy to share.

I've taken advantage of having a babysitter this week and have made a few shopping trips with my sister without Chase, who I miss dearly when I'm gone. I love walking through the door and having him run to me, hug my legs and say ahhh momma, it is the best feeling ever!

Chase and I met my bestest friend, Misty Lynne, and her two kids for lunch and play time at The Shops at Willowbend today. Chase loves playing and watching older kids and quickly tries to mock their actions. Monkey see, monkey do! His new thing is jump, he says it as he attempts it, I have to say it's pretty amusing to watch. He loves to climb which I am not too thrilled about, it's keeping me on my toes for sure! He can now climb up on my parents couch and successfully climb down. He is growing up just a little too quickly for me!

Later Easter afternoon after church and lunch with the family we took a little drive. Chris thought it would be fun to stop at Washington on the Brazos, the birth place of Texas! It was nice just strolling along the paths and taking in the beautiful scenery. Chase loves being out doors and enjoyed walking hand in hand with daddy picking up rocks. We hope your Easter was filled with blessings! After Chase went through his Easter basket and ate breakfast we all ready for church. As Chase gets older it's important to us that he understands the TRUE meaning behind holidays, Easter being one of the most important. Only after the birth of our son did I realize what a gift God gave us by sending his only son to die on a cross for our sins!

I have been so excited to see my guys dressed in their matching ties since I ordered them weeks ago. Seeing the two of them dressed up together made this mommy's heart very happy! As you can see Yellow Ducky and Lucky Ducky are getting bigger by the day! Chase has really warmed up to them.

It was great to visit with family we don't get to see often enough, especially Great Grandma :) Daddy and I helped Chase search for eggs. He loved the eggs, but again was content with finding the first one. He ended up finding the grand prize egg and winning a big Easter basket filled with toys!

My mommy friend Krystle invited us over for a pre Easter play date for the kids. We ate a yummy lunch, the kids tried their hands at coloring for the first time and hunted eggs in the back yard. Once they picked up the first egg they weren't so interested in the others scattered on the ground, the mommy's ended up rounding those up :)

Grandpa Ken had a little (furry) Easter surprise for Chase when we stopped by Saturday afternoon, 2 baby ducks! Chase wasn't so sure of them at first but he is slowly warming up to his new pets :) They are tiny little things now so we'll have to wait until they get big enough to take care of themselves before taking them to a local park to live. I'll be sure to post more pictures as Yellow Ducky and Lucky ducky grow!

Chase and I spent the aftenoon outside yesterday before the dreaded cold front made it to Houston. He loves being outdoors, just like his daddy. He loves anything with wheels and even makes the vroom sound when he pushes his truck around (Papaw taught him that one). He looks like such a big boy pushing and getting on and off his cars!

He has picked up a few more words lately, done, oh, papa and he affectionatly calls his blanket, baybay. It's funny that no matter when I get him out of his crib he has a death grip on the blanket. I let him hold it until breakfast then sneak it back in the crib when he isn't looking :)

12 month Check Up

I took Chase to see Dr. Rose today for his 12 month check up. We have a long and lean little guy, weighing in at 20.5 lbs (25th percentile) and 31 inches tall (75th percentile). He has reached all the age appropriate milestones and then some. He had to get 3 shots, I am not sure which he disliked more, the shots or being held down by the nurse and I to get the shots. All in all we have a happy and healthy baby boy, which I thank God for daily.

Chris has started walking hand in hand with Chase while we are shopping, Chris actually has a hard time keeping up when Chase starts to run! He isn't really happy when he is picked up or put back in the cart and his freedom is taken away. Chris wants to get Chase a dog so badly, we just can't agree on the breed of dog we should get. Chase loves dogs and often says "doog" when he see's one. Next time you see him as what a doggy's says, he'll respond with a high pitched "woof woof". Daddy feels that this new trick is just another reason Chase needs a dog :)

Chase got a ride on airplane, race car, 4-wheeler and a firetruck for his birthday. He has spent the last 3 days climbing on and off, riding and pushing the buttons on all 4 toys. He is loving each and everyone of his birthday toys!

Happy Birthday Chase Christopher! Chris took Tuesday off work so we could spend Chase's birthday together as a family, just like last year :) We enjoyed birthday blue berry muffins before heading to The Woodlands for pictures and lunch. We decided to get him a dvd player for the car since we make so many roadtrips, daddy hooked that morning it up so he could watch Blues Clues during the drive there. We had a great day with our sweet boy and look forward to many more birthdays!

Chase seems to be learning something new each day! Earlier this week while he was in the bath he said bubble, it sounds more like bub bub but it's so cute watching him concentrate on saying it. Last night I had him saying uh oh. I am really excited to see his vocabulary growing so soon. He now says mama, dada, baba, dooog, and bub bub, among a few others only I understand :)

Chase was "helping" me put grocery's away a few nights ago. I have learned that the mess he makes while I am being productive is well worth the time he occupies himself.

Chase has recently discovered how much fun the "tupperware cabinet" can be. He favorite items seems to be the strainer.

Roadtrip to Dallas!

Chris was scheduled to oversee an install in Dallas for work last week so Chase and I decided to tag along to visit family and friends. It's sad that because we've lived in Austin and Houston since the baby was born that many our close friends haven't had a chance to meet our little guy. So I did my best to fill our week with lunch and dinner dates to catch up.

We met our dear friends from our home church in Lewisville Mary Jo and Ronnie for dinner Wednesday night. I think Chris was a bit overwhelmed with the girl talk but of coarse enjoyed the company as well as his enchilada's :)

Thursday Chase and I drove out to Wylie for a play date with Carter, the boys are just 3 days apart. Carter's mommy, Leanne and I went to high school together and have reconnected thanks to facebook. The boys played really well together and it was fun catching up with Leanne.

My little sister is getting married this summer and I was excited to find out that the weekend we were in town was the same weekend as the Dallas Bridal show. My mom, sisters,niece, Megan's best friend and mother of the groom had a great time cruising the aisles cake testing :) We all stopped for lunch at Jason's Deli to complete our girls day.

We managed to see several friends during our trip but as always there is never enough time to see everyone. We ended up heading back a day early because Chris wasn't feeling very well and was eager to sleep in his own bed to rest up for the coming week. I don't at all regret our decision to move here, but leaving Dallas was especially hard this trip. Our friends and family in Dallas mean so much to us and as much as I love visiting with you all, it makes my heart miss you all that much more. I just wish there weren't so many miles between Dallas and Houston!

10 months old and on the move...

Chase turned 10 months old on Saturday, it amazes me that in just two months our sweet boy will be a year old! I took him to the Dr. last week to learn that we had a slight ear infection and a bit of congestion. We're on antibiotics and a decongestant which seems to be doing the trick. Despite being all stopped up and obviously not feeling well he was still our sweet little guy, just a bit more clingy than normal :)

He is super mobile for his age and has been standing on his own since about 8 months and taking 2 0r 3 steps here or there for the past month or so. He is getting really comfortable with "wall cruising", walking along the walls of our house to get to where he wants to go. In the past few days he is getting braver and walking longer distances though often finds it easier and faster to just fall to his knees to crawl.

Chase now has 4 teeth, two top and two bottom and no signs of any others currently. He surprised me the other day by repeating me and put two words together. I was holding him while I was making his bottle and started saying baba excitedly, I asked him to say baba mama and he said it right back to me several times. He loves the nodding of the head thing and now nods no when he is told no-no.

Chris and I laugh daily and silly things he does or his facial expressions and hope our little guy brightens your day too! Children are such an incredible blessing!

5..4..3..2..1...Happy New Year! Chris and I decided somewhat on a whim Wednesday night to make the 2 hour drive to Austin to spend our second New Years Eve with our great friends Matt & Danne'. Chase hasn't been sleeping well since he is teething and we knew we wouldn't disturb them in the guest room upstairs. Last year I was 7 months pregnant and spent the evening with my feet up sipping on Shirley Temples. :) The baby was a bit off schedule thanks to a late evening nap so he was awake to bring in the New Year with Mommy and Daddy, but passed out just minutes after the ball dropped. I could not think of a better way start 2010 than sitting next to my wonderful husband with our son in our lap at the stroke of midnight.

Looking back at 2009 I would have to say it was an over all great year for the Henderson Family. Chase made his debut, Chris accepted a full time position with Bank of America and we purchased our second home together making the move from Austin to Dallas. I am humbled when I think our many blessings. I don't know if 2010 could top 2009 but I am looking forward to finding out.

I wanted to post a few pictures I took while daddy was bathing Chase tonight. Chris picked out a bubble maker for the bath tub one night when we where out Christmas shopping and tried it out for the first time tonight. Chase always loves his time in the bath and was pretty intrigued with the bubbles.

Chase's new thing is nodding his head yes and no. He has no idea what he is agreeing or disagreeing to but he always looks so serious as if he does.

Nine plus months

I seem to have gotten lost in the month of December and haven't written about Chase's ever changing personality. He is now nine and a half months old, which breaks my heart. This time last year I was super preggo with swollen feet and sleeping with a heating pad a night because of my aching back and this year I am a mommy to a beautiful baby boy.

Chase has been crawling and pulling up for months now and has perfected "furniture cruising". He has taken 2-3 steps in a row a hand full of times but seems to get braver and braver each day. I give it another few weeks until we have a walker on our hands.

He loves food! Over the past few weeks he has become less interested in baby food and much more interested in food he can pick up with his tiny finders and eat himself with Dr. Rose said was very normal at his last wellness check. I have yet to find a food this child doesn't care for other than spaghetti o's.

His two bottom teeth have been in for about 2 months now and the top left if very visible and the right is not far behind, you can feel it if your lucky enough to sneak your finger in his mouth.

We have truly been blessed with an amazingly happy baby. Sure he gets fussy from time to time however rarely without a reason. He smiles and talks constantly, and this mommy never gets tired of hearing mamama and even hearing him call for dadadadee from the bottom of the stairs up to Chris' office melts my heart. He high fives, claps when we say "yea", and tonight mimicked grandma's cough. I have been working on "kisses" for a while now and love it when I get an open mouthed kiss from my sweet baby or when he leans in for a kiss on the cheek from me.

We constantly heard from friends with little ones how quickly they grow and not to blink or we might miss something, but I never imagined how true it is. I have to remind myself daily to enjoy each day with him because I'll never get this day back.

Baby's 1st Christmas Continued

Christmas Eve is always spent with Chris' mom's side of the family, we eat, visit, go to church, come back to eat again and end with night with a round of white elephant. Chase is a very loved baby boy and left with lots of fun new ornaments, puzzles and stuffed animals from his great aunts and uncles. As always it is great spending a day with people you love.

For all the years Chris and I have married we have always spent Christmas Eve at either his parents or mine, but always said that once we had kids we would wake up Christmas Day in our own home. Since we were here in Houston my family came to us this year to share Chase's 1st Christmas. They drove in Thursday night only to arrive to a very dark house, the heavy winds caused our electricity to go out on Christmas Eve! We made the most of the situation and used the fireplace and candles for light until the power came back on about 2 hours after they got here. I was a bit irritated but very thankful it came back on so quickly. We spent Christmas Day exchanging gifts and watching Chase play with all of his new things and enjoyed a yummy dinner of ham, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, corn casserole, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce prepared by me! Chase soaked up all the attention, hugs and kisses from Nana, Papaw, aunt Megan and Joe.

Baby's 1st Christmas!

Chris and I could have not asked for a better first Christmas for Chase. I have looked forward to celebrating Christmas with our little guy since the moment we found out we were expecting. We decided to have Christmas with the Henderson's on Wednesday so we spent the day eating and visiting at Grandma and Grandpa's. Chase being the only grandchild (until April) of course got loaded up on all sorts of fun things.

1st Haircut

Chase got his very first haircut today! We've been talking about it for weeks but decided with the holidays quickly approaching we could wait no longer. For 9 months old (as of Wednesday) the kid has a lot of hair! We took him to Cool Cuts where they specialize in babies and kids, they have toys and a tv/dvd player at each chair. Chase was pretty much wrapped up in Baby Einstein during much of the cutting process. Daddy held him since he is still a bit too small to sit in the chair alone and I took lots of pictures. I did fight back tears when the stylist was done and a much older baby sat where my little baby with hair hanging over his ears had sat just moments before.

I can't believe it is already December! We are so excited to celebrate Chase's first Christmas. Since we were in Dallas all week we decided to take Chase to see Santa so Nana and Papa could be there too, the fact there were no lines was an added perk. Chase seemed to do well at first just staring at Santa, it wasn't until he looked around and noticed mommy and daddy were no longer by his side that his lower lip popped out the the tears began to roll. It was a great picture none the less!

Happy belated Thanksgiving! Chris was off work the whole week so we made a much overdue trip to Dallas to hang with friends and family there. Chase enjoyed his time with Nana and Papa and his aunts and cousins, I think he came home a bit rotten! Our Turkey day was great, we ate too much and were happy to see the Cowboys win. We really have so much to be thankful for- Thanks be to God!

My best friend, Misty Lynne, and her two kiddo's came in from Dallas for a visit Monday and left today. Chase was intrigued by the older kids in the house and Micah and Moriah were fascinated by baby toys they haven't had around in a while :) The weather was beautiful yesterday so we packed a lunch and spent the afternoon at a local park picnicking, swinging and feeding the ducks. It was great spending time with my sweet friend and the kids that were merely images in our heads when our friendship began 15 years ago.

Trick or Treat! We hope you all had a great Halloween, the weather couldn't have been more perfect. I've enjoyed looking at everyone picture's n facebook of their monkeys, pirates, lions and fairy princesses. We dressed Chase up in his Cowboy attire visited with a few neighbors and went to grandma & grandpa's for a treat. Mommy even dusted off her boots for the night :) Chase was really clueless to it all. To him it was just another day but daddy and I sure did have fun taking pictures and laughing at our little buckeroo.

Happy Fall! We took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday after church and visited a local pumpkin patch. It was hard to get smiles because he was too busy checking out his new surroundings. Chase was seemed to enjoy it all, especially the dirt. We are so excited about dressing him up next weekend for his first trick or treat experience. Chase is getting so big and his personality is really coming out. He now waves bye bye, claps with excitement and occasionally high fives. We love our little pumpkin!

6 months going on 2!

Happy Half Birthday Chase! I took him to meet our new pediatrician and get 6 month shots on last Wednesday- he was a champ and only cried for a few seconds. Dr. Rose said he looked great and was developing right on track! Our lil' guy now weighs 16.13 oz and is 27 inches long. Chase quickly mastered the crawling thing- though he only stays on all fours long enough to get him to the nearest piece of furniture to pull up on. A few weeks ago he started saying mamama and dadadadee in the same day-I don't think he wanted us to think he favored one parent over the other :)

I saw today that he has his first tooth breaking through! He has been drooling more than normal, a bit warm to the touch but other than not too fussy so far. I'll keep you posted on the progress and post pictures as soon as it is visable. He'll be asking for steak and potato's before we know it. As for now we'll stick to baby food which he seems to enjoy more and more each day. I think so far his favorite is sqaush.

We are so in love with this child and love watching him grow and learn new things!

Chase's Baptism

Yesterday was a special day for our family, Chase received the sacrament of baptism! After searching for a gown that was suitable for a boy we decided to ask Nana to make one, which made it extra special. Chase looked adorable in his "dress" and was such a good boy the entire service. After the service we invited friends and family to our home to celebrate with lunch and cake. It was wonderful seeing everyone come together to show their love for Chase.

We had an amazing weekend sharing our son with our families! We are truly blessed!

Oh how fast they grow...

I wanted to share a few recent pictures of our little guy. It amazes us how fast he is growing and changing. He will be 5 months old in just over a week when it feels as if just yesterday I was pregnant waiting for his arrival! He rolls all over the place and is begining to scoot which means crawling is just around the corner, I'm not sure if we are ready for that yet! Now that I am at home with him all day we have settled into a nice routine. Chase is such a happy baby, all smiles and laughs. I have caught him saying da da da da a few times but he only says da when Chris is around. He loves spending time in his Jumperoo and that boy can jump! I recently purchased an activity mirror for his crib so each morning I wake up to him chatting it up with his reflection and coo's of joy....it's the best alarm clock I have ever had! I thank God each day for the ability to stay home with Chase...it's a blessing I will never take for granted!

We officially moved into our new house the second week of July and it's been work, work, work since then. The interior is all unpacked and decorated and the outside is still a work in progress. I'll post pictures in a few weeks.

As always we are way over due for an update. It was a year ago Monday that Chris and I learned we had a bun in the oven...oh how our lives have changed in a year! We are now the parents of a beautiful and happy 4 month old baby boy. He is getting so big so fast and more personality by the day! He is a talker, he coo's and talks constantly and now laughs outloud. He has a smile that melts your heart. Chase had his first experience with baby food Sunday night and seemed to love it.

We spent the weekend in Hockley working on the new house. After getting bids from painters Chris decided to paint the house himself. After working everyday and heading over to the house in the evenings to paint for two weeks and only managing to get the upstairs complete he threw in the paint brush and called the painters. They finished up today so the next few days will be spent hanging light fixtures, blinds, replacing outlet covers, cabinet knobs and cleaning. We are so ready to get in and settled. Chase and I have been staying with our dear friends Matt and Danne' the past two weeks while I worked through my notice at work in order in keep health insurance active until Chris' kicks in. Tomorrow is my last day so Chase and I will head out for our final trip home straight from daycare. We are excited about the new house and the memories our family will make there.

Happy Memorial Day! We spent the weekend in Dallas visiting with the Melty Family. Chase was such a joy the whole weekend. He smiles, coo's and laughs all the time now.

Our little guy is 11 weeks old today and we can't believe how much he has changed in such a short time. He is so alert and loves to see what is going on around him at all times. He started sleeping through the night (on most nights) a few weeks ago. He usually goes down around 8 pm after his bath and night time feeding and wakes up around 6 am. He started daycare 2 weeks ago and seems to enjoy it, it is harder on me than it is on him :) It is easier dropping him off now knowing it is only for a few more weeks.... which leads me to our next life changing event.

We are moving to Houston! We originally moved to Austin last June when Chris was contracting for Dell, knowing it might not be long term we decided not to buy a house but rather rent an apartment just in case things didn't work out, which in Dell's case they did not. Chris has been contracting for Bank of America since September and has really grown to enjoy his work and the people he works with via phone each day. He accepted a full time position last week, which in this economy is a true blessing. Chris will be the Assistant Vice President of Voice Application Technology Services (VATS). The great thing about his position is that he has the ability to live anywhere since he works from home. We had talked about staying in Austin since we love the city and activites it has to offer but struggled with planting roots here since our families are in Dallas and Houston and we feel as if we are traveling to one city or another every free weekend. We weren't exactly house hunting but came across a house in Chris' parents subdivision a few weeks ago which we feel in love with. After a stressful week of negociations with the bank and a close call with another bidder the house is ours. We are set to close the 19th of June so please keep us in your prayers. It is a foreclosure and needs a bit of TLC but we are up for the challenge. After living in an apartment for a year and accumilating tons of baby stuff we are very ready to be back in a house.

We truly feel blessed and pray we are following the path God has laid out for us. We know we serve an amazing God who answers prayers.

Chase Christopher, one month old already!

Chase celebrated his one month birthday Monday! He has had quite a busy month, a road trip to Houston to visit Grandma and Grandpa Henderson and a trip to Dallas to celebrate Easter early with Nana and Papa Melty. He has slept the entire trip both times- which makes traveling a breeze for now. After 4 weeks of being at home it is nice to get out and visit with family and share Chase with everyone who awaited his arrival.

Chase is adjusting to a schedule now and sleeps in his crib for 2 and a half to 4 hours at a time. We tired the bassinet thing in our room but he wasn't a big fan so he quickly moved into his room. He is such a good natured baby- I wouldn't trade him for the world!

A special delivery arrived for Chase yesterday via UPS from Chris' best friends parents, Mark and Jo. He now owns his very own cowboy hat, mini cowboy boots, denim overalls and a pony on a stick! I hope you enjoy the picture :)

Chase is one week old today!

Needless to say I have been a bit too busy to update our blog....though it has been on the top of my to do list :) Chris and I checked into the hospital last Sunday at 7 pm with plans to be given cervicil to soften my cervix and prep me for the early morning induction. They checked me and realized I was dilated to nearly a 4 already so they were not able to give it to me. After a good nights sleep they started the pitocin Monday morning at 5 am. From 7 am when the contractions began until 5 pm when I gave in and requested an epidural is a total blur. I was curled up on on side of the bed- if I wasn't squeezing Chris' hand I was clenching the rail of the bed. We had family arriving from Dallas and Austin and I had no idea who was there and honestly didn't care! When they checked me at 5 pm and was onlydilated to a 7 and a half and baby's head had not dropped yet I knew I was a long way from pushing and had to have enough energy to do so. I was a totally different person after the epi...all smiles and chit chat. My contractions actually slowed after that...so did my progress. At 9 o'clock I had barely dilated to an 8 and a half and surprise surprise baby's head was still too far up there. By that point the doctor suggested a c-section- I had mentally prepared myself that a c section might have to be an option so I think I handled it well.

Within minutes they had me prepped and daddy was suited up in his blue "painters suit" and I was being wheeled to the OR. Dr. Fitzpatrick gave us play by play details through the delivery process, mentioning he was a big guy. With Chris by my side we waited to hear the cry of our first child...and he surely let us hear it. Chris got the first look ( and picture) and I watched as they cleaned him up and weighed him. I could not believe my eyes, 9 lbs and 8 inches- much larger than I could have ever imagined. Daddy eagerly followed the newest Henderson to the nursery to introduce him to his fan club patiently waiting. Chase Christopher arrived on 3.9.09 at 9:44 pm weighing in at 9 lbs 8.1 oz and was 21 inches long and a head full of dark hair.

For those of you who are mommy's you know that words cannot describe the emotions you feel holding your baby for the first time. I wish I could bottle up that feeling and experience it everyday. He is absolutely beautiful and a part of the love Chris and I share- what an amazing blessing!

We were in the hospital until noon on Thursday and could not WAIT to get home. Chris has been incredible, taking care of me since I was somewhat immobile due to the c-section and very hands on with baby. My heart was so full Thursday afternoon holding our son with my husband next to me....my cup runneth over!

Now we are just taking it easy enjoying our time with Chase and trying to get on some kind of schedule.

Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. we tried to include everyone on our mass email announcing Chase's arrival, but we are sure we missed a few. More updates to come!

Chris and I will be admitted to St. Davids Round Rock this evening at 7 pm so they can "prep my cervix" :) They will induce me sometime tomorrow morning- we'll get more details tonight when we get there I hope. Daddy is in charge of sending out play by play text messages and emails regarding baby's arrival.

We have everything in order and are very anxious to bring our little person home. Thank you all for sharing the past months of pregnancy with us!

Countdown to Baby Chase!

Baby update! I went in for my 39 week check up this afternoon and all is well with baby. Dr. Murphree did recommend that we schedule an induction to make sure he isn't getting to big due to the gestational diabetes. Dates fill up fast so our choices were either tonight or next Monday so Chris and I opted to wait until Monday. We figure Chase has a week to make it out on his own...other wise we'll help him out just a day before his due date. After 39 weeks of pregnancy there is an end in sight :) I have had it pretty easy, but I do have to say that I hit the miserable phase this past weekend.

This time next Monday Chris and I will be parents to a baby boy!

38 weeks

It's hard to believe we are now 38 weeks pregnant and now considered full term. Baby Chase could come any day now....Chris and I are looking forward to meeting our little person.

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything looks good. I am 25% effaced and dilated to a 1...which gives us no clue as to when I may go into labor only that my body is indeed getting ready. My next appointment ia on Monday so stay tuned.

My bestest friend Misty Lynne and sister Miranda hosted a shower for us this weekend in Dallas. I was so happy to see my girl friends I hadn't seen much, if at all since moving to Austin. We ate, played games and had a great time. As you can see baby Chase got a ton of fun stuff- we barely got in all in my 4-Runner for the drive home. Chris and I truly feel blessed for the wonderful people in our lives that are already showering this baby with love.

We are officially 36 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow, for those of you that don't know you are actually pregnant 40 weeks which equals out to be 10 months....not 9 months. I have a doctors appointment in the morning so I'll be sure to keep you updated.

They suggest you not travel far from home in the last weeks of pregnancy so it looks like we'll be hanging out here in Austin.

35 weeks preggo and counting...

Today's baby doctor appointment well. Dr. Murphree scheduled a sonogram to check on his weight and to see if he was in the head down position. He is indeed head down, the sono tech mentioned he head was really low which explains my frequent trips to the restroom. He is measuring just right at about 5 lbs and 10 oz. I asked her to double check something and yes he is still a little boy :) I have heard too many stories where babies were predicted to be one sex and they were the other. It's not that I would mind having a little girl...just as long as we got one that likes blue and trains. We wern't able to see baby as well as we did at the 18 week sonogram because he is so much bigger and somewhat cramped in there. We did get a great 3-D shot of his face, he has chubby cheeks and a lot of hair. I can't wait to meet him! From now on I'll make weekly visits to the doctor- fun times :)

My blood sugar levels are still good therefore I won't need medicine to keep me in line. I might stick with this diabetes diet after I deliever...I lost 5 lbs since my last visit! My doctor said that was just fine, baby will take all he needs and leave the rest.

We are heading to Dallas tomorrow after work for a long weekend and our baby shower. I am so excited to see all my girls....I have really missed sharing this special time in my life with them.
